Shifting ocean saltiness from 2004-2013

Regional differences and changes over time in evaporation and rainfall, ocean currents, melting ice, and freshwater influx from rivers or streams can influence patterns of sea surface salinity. A fleet of free-drifting, robotic Argo floats collecting temperature and salinity observations across the oceans, globally since 2004, allows us to look at decadal trends in sea surface salinity.
