Scaling up ocean action at the UN Ocean Conference

Understanding, protecting, and sustainably managing ocean habitats and services are essential to a healthy society. Learning more about the ocean’s influence on climate is key to our future. From June 27 through July 1, 2022, an international cohort of leaders in ocean science, policymakers, and youth will come together to discuss engagement, partnerships, and technology for the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14, life below water. The 2022 UN Ocean Conference, co-hosted by the Governments of Kenya and Portugal, shines a spotlight on transformational ocean science to improve ocean health and make sustainable development possible. The U.S. Delegation, joined by NOAA staff alongside global partners, will participate in sessions, workshops, and media events exploring the Ocean Decade and solutions to deliver the Ocean We Want.
